A couple of years ago, we received a call from an organization that was having serious performance problems with their PeopleSoft applications. They had called in PeopleSoft consultants, experts from the hardware vendor and consultants from the database vendor. After weeks of effort on the part of these three groups of consultants, none of them had solved the problem or even produced any noticeable improvement in system performance. That was when they called us.
They wanted a proposal from us for resolving their performance problems. To do that, we needed to have some time on-site to investigate, scope the problem and gather enough information so that we could prepare and submit a realistic proposal. We sent one of our technical consultants to the organization, for a day, to do the research needed to solve the problem. After just five hours on-site, he correctly diagnosed and solved the problem.
This one example illustrates what makes our consultants different. Why was our consultant able to do this in less than a day when smart consultants from three other companies couldn’t do it in several weeks? Because the underlying cause of the performance problem was a combination of factors and was not just limited to the application or the database or the hardware.
